Post 25.5" Scale vs 27" Scale on a 7 string
So I've been looking around for 7 strings for a while now (Started a 7 string thread a while ago) but I've settled on what I'm looking for: a 24 fret V with either neck thru or set neck/thru, fixed bridge, string thru body preferably.

The only guitar that I've seen that fulfills all of these things and that I actually like is the ESP LTD Hex-7 (Nergal Signature)

This guy:

It fits everything that I wanted perfectly (I just have to check to make sure that the neck isn't chunky thick or something), but I was wondering. This guitar has a 25.5" scale; does it drastically reduce tonal quality? Would the EMG's help at all? Or would it be highly recommended that it should have a 27" scale or at least a 26.5" scale?

It's either going to be the LTD Hex-7 or the Agile Hornet 727.

That ESP seems pretty good. I've a Maverick Species II, pretty sure that's a 25.5" scale, and it's fine really. You'll need to try it though to see how it feels. what are you playing at the moment?

An LTD V 401: http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/80907

That's the problem; I really wish I could try both before I can buy them, but it's impossible to try an Agile before you buy one, and I couldn't find a place that actually has the Hex-7. I know Tom Lee can special order them, but special orders mean no refunds.

Currently finding that the lack of tension on my low b string on a 25.5 scale (using a .56) is causing some problems when attempting to blast out 16th notes at 200 bpm. Might be an operator related issue, though.

are you going to be down tuning the 7 string??

if so you will want a 27 scale,if not the 25.5 is good enough
