Hey guys!

I am moving to Vancouver in a couple weeks here to study film and television make-up/special effects. Finally being on my way to having a job that doesn't suck, in a city known for it's nightlife and beautiful natural surroundings....I am stoked!

Unfortunately, I will be leaving the Edmonton alternative scene behind. Things were just "getting good" after making it into the Chorosive dance troupe, a performance group mixing bellydance, tribal, gogo dancing, and acting with metal music and live metal shows. Of all the things I will be missing out on, I will regret leaving that opportunity behind most.

In my opinion, the best concerts are the one's in someone's house, in a small venue, or with wicked performance elements! I enjoy my metal best when dancing to it, driving to it (Dimmu Borgir makes turning left even more epic), or cooking supper.

I fully expect Vancouver to have an alternative scene that is alive and well. Any suggestions on venues and dates for metal shows coming up would be much appreciated! Also, if you can point me to alternative venues/bars where I can dance without being groped by Jersey Shores

Well, I'm sure a few of the locals can help you out with the other stuff; some of them have been to the film schools, the art schools, etc. They'll know the places with minimal Jersey Shore Guido content.

As for metal, the best starting point is the Calendars located in West Coast Metal Scene. Then check out what's in the Upcoming Tours and Other Genres sections.
