Gah I'm still worried about the Korpiklaani show.. mainly because it's just me, my girlfriend, and another buddy. We're probably getting a ride right to the Rickshaw.... so once we're there it would be safe?

Sorry for sounding like a teenager T_T But I care about her... ANYWAYS.

Now that I have your picture I will be waiting out front of the Rickshaw, while smoking some good ol' crack and shooting heroine into my balls, to harass you. Just a warning, I tend to throw fecal matter at girls.

LOL.

Yup. That's it. Old picture though. They've spruced up the entrance a bit since the google van rolled by.

If anyone has any definitive information on what's going on at the Rickshaw please post it here. If it is being taken over by another group/company etc.... Will it remain all ages with the current bar set up? Is someone going to invest in improving the sound etc?

Post Re: THE RICKSHAW THEATRE
from my understanding it has been taken over by live nation. they still allow local acts to set up shows but the days have to miss live nation dates and it costs $1500 to rent the room.

the bigger metal shows previously booked like hypocrisy will remain on the schedule. as well as some of the shows malice had previously booked and wants to go through with. however, most of the coming local act shows have been dropped unless a prior arrangement had been made. some guy named mike now runs the booking department...its too bad for local acts but its a massive venue. you'll need massive bands to fill it up to capacity....l

As the rent is now $1500... how does that compare to how much it was before?

It seems that now, unless you can draw at least 200 paying people at $10 each...it will not be feasible to put on shows.

Ya that sucks. As said in the other thread. Another one bites the dust...

We will still get some bigger shows there but not likely a lot of local bands will be putting out that kind of cash to book it.

K I know this was brought up but I didn't see a definite answer - Is there a coat check? I'm going to be lugging around a banner for the Hypocrisy show and I REALLY don't want to be holding it during the show... Not from Vancouver and not driving (busing from the ferry) so I otherwsie have nowhere to put the damn thing (that I know of)

It's not 100% safe though... when I was at Korpiklaani my girlfriend put her sweater there and the guitarist from White Wizzard was dicking around with it... :P

Well that's a facking relief. I was about to offer some strung out bum some crack to hold but only when I get out of the show and upon safe delivery of the banner :dunno:

Not a bad venue. The seats at the back are real nice for whe you get tired of standing. It is pretty vcavernous so, other than superpro headliners, most bands will get absolute shit sound.

Well if you have ear plugs the sound is actually pretty good. The bass is really nice.

Upon reflection I think the shit sound was the soundguy's fault and not the venue... Hypocrisy sounded fine.. I think the soundman was just fudging everyone else's sound

Basically. Amon Amarth ripped the place up. So did Kreator, Kataklysm, etc.

Best thing there was this old crack lady that passed out in the seats. Me and about 10 other people huddled around her and took a picture posing with her all passed out. It is rad.. I should post it.
